A request of a prop removal.

Post by Armin 'Lil Thug' Arlert on Sun Jan 11, 2015 1:21 am

Okay, Dead City. I see this bridge prop that connects two buildings, but I see no logical way for this to be set up considering the distance between the two..If tossed across, it would simply fall. And you cannot set it up without tugging one end off the building. I am just requesting for this prop to be removed. Even if it is someones outpost/base, it would be merely impossible to make that bridge connect to both buildings...

Actually bridges like that are rather common place in reality, depending on region.
It's pretty awesome to be honest, especially with how ridiculously far they stretch IRL, It can be TERRIFYING.
Click the spoiler for some examples on why the one in the server is reasonable.

I agree w/ fox, ofc that bridge model isn't the best as it was clearly made for a certain part of a certain map, if it was more realistic in our case it would create sorta a U and not a sideways S

How do people even make this?! It scares me on how they make bridges in trees like that...But I'd atleast like to be told how in the world making that one that connects the buildings was possible and how it was made.

The large bridges similar to these in Asia are constructed by first getting a very small light rope across the gape. Whether they use a machine to hurl it (usually when the gap is enormous), or they add a weight to it and just chunk it to the other side (It's possible to throw a weighted rope across the gap in the server). If they miss, they just keep tugging it up. If they are using the weight system, once the weight has landed on the other side, people on the other side of the gap secure it (This system requires people on both sides of gap). They use a pulley system with the small rope to add more and more rope, all securing it from both sides. Once the ropes are secure, the guy with the biggest balls begins putting the planks down and fastening them.

Although this is just one technique, and the bridge on the server was most likely constructed by other means, it's quite possible for such bridges to be built.
